There is nowhere in the whole of Massachusetts higher than the top of this mountain. On a clear day you can stand up there and see ninety miles — far enough that you are looking into other states. There is a stone tower at the summit built to remember people who died in wars, and trees that only grow up here because it is too cold for them anywhere lower down.

- Time there
- Plan on about 2.5 hours at the park.
- Parking
- The Visitor Center is at 30 Rockwell Road and is reachable by car all year. The auto roads to the summit itself open mid-May to the end of October only, and are closed to anything longer than 22 feet.
- Underfoot
- Trails run from casual to extremely difficult — look at the map before choosing one. The park is dawn to dusk.
- Bathrooms
