Ships used to tie up right here and unload things nobody in town had ever seen before. The long stone wharf goes straight out into the harbor, and the little lighthouse at the end of it still switches on every night — except now it runs on sunshine. One of the houses along this street was already old when people were being put on trial for witchcraft in 1692.
