The Midstate Trail runs ninety-five miles across Massachusetts, and it goes straight through the edge of this forest. Somebody walking the whole thing might come past you while you are here — they will have started days ago and have days left to go. Everything else in this forest is a loop that brings you back to the car. That one is not.

- Time there
- Plan on about 2 hours at the park.
- Parking
- The forest office is at 1 Fitchburg Road. Parking is $8 with Massachusetts plates and $30 without, from late May to early September; free the rest of the year. Lots are open sunrise to sunset, and the beach picnic area 9am to 6pm in summer.
- Underfoot
- Everything from fire roads to narrow single track, plus rock the climbers use. Crow Hill Pond is in the middle of it.
