Wachusett Meadow
Twelve hundred acres of old farmstead below the mountain — barns still in use, sheep still grazing the pastures, and twelve miles of trail running out through woodland, wetland and meadow.
Researched from this park's own sources. Nobody's walked it yet.
Read this bit out
Somebody farmed here for a very long time. The barns are still standing and there are still sheep in the fields, but the farm stopped being only a farm — most of the land was let go back to woods and wet ground and meadow, on purpose, so that wild things would come back to it. They did. You are walking around somebody's old farm and a wildlife sanctuary at the same time, and they are the same place.
