The Battle Road
Five miles of the road the Revolution started on, running from Meriam's Corner out to Lexington, with the stone walls the militia fired from behind still alongside it and the tavern the British column marched past twice in one day.

One morning in 1775, soldiers marched up this exact road from Boston, and the farmers who lived here came out to stop them. What happened at the bridge we are walking to got called the shot heard round the world. Parts of the path we are on are the real road they marched down.

Before you go

- Plan on about 2 hours at the park.
- Parking
- The Park Service gives 210 North Great Road, Lincoln for the Minute Man Visitor Center. Free, and no entrance fee. The trail has several more lots along Route 2A and Lexington Road. The park warns that satnavs get it wrong — follow the brown signs once you are close.
- Underfoot
- A five-mile trail from Meriam's Corner in Concord to the Lexington line, part of it the original roadbed and part of it across farm fields, wetland and forest. You need walk only as much of it as you like.
