Thirty acres of lawns and trails with enormous sculptures standing about in them — the biggest sculpture park in New England, and the rare kind of art you are allowed to walk all the way around.

Underfoot. Thirty acres of lawns, gardens and paths, with a hill in the middle of it.
Parking. The park is at 51 Sandy Pond Road. $14 for adults and $12 for seniors and students; free for Trustees members, Lincoln residents and children 12 and under. Open Tuesday to Sunday and holiday Mondays — closed ordinary Mondays.
Drumlin Farm

A working farm and a wildlife sanctuary at the same time: pigs, sheep, goats, chickens and cows in the farmyard, crops growing in rows, and owls, hawks and foxes that live here for good because they cannot go back out.

Underfoot. Four miles of trails across field, forest and wetland, and half a mile of it flat and smooth.
Parking. The sanctuary is at 208 South Great Road. Admission is $9 for adults, $6 for seniors and $6 for children aged 2 to 12; Mass Audubon members go free. Closed Mondays except Monday holidays.
The Battle Road

Five miles of the road the Revolution started on, running from Meriam's Corner out to Lexington, with the stone walls the militia fired from behind still alongside it and the tavern the British column marched past twice in one day.

Underfoot. A five-mile trail from Meriam's Corner in Concord to the Lexington line, part of it the original roadbed and part of it across farm fields, wetland and forest. You need walk only as much of it as you like.
Parking. The Park Service gives 210 North Great Road, Lincoln for the Minute Man Visitor Center. Free, and no entrance fee. The trail has several more lots along Route 2A and Lexington Road. The park warns that satnavs get it wrong — follow the brown signs once you are close.
